HOLLYWOOD SCREENWRITER ANDREW OYE RECRUITS TEAM OF FITNESS (SPORTS) ENTHUSIASTS AND SCREENWRITING PROFESSIONALS
By Andrew Oye
ATTENTION FIT WRITERS!
Are you fit and focused? Hollywood TV+film screenwriter and fitness+sports media professional Andrew Oye seeks three or four individuals who are equally passionate about and dedicated to two endeavors— fitness and screenwriting— to form the first collective of its kind.
Members of this collective of fit writers will workshop their individual television scripts and film screenplays, and create opportunities to pitch these projects to Hollywood studios, producers and agents with the ultimate goal of production and distribution.
DO YOU WORKOUT AND WRITE STRONG?
The collective’s aim is to apply the benefits of a fit, active lifestyle to the mental stamina required to build a portfolio of commercially viable creative material. Additionally, the group will highlight and promote a unique segment of the writing community— a segment equally at ease toiling in the gym and sweating behind the keyboard.
To nurture the concept of this motivational crew, Andrew has plans to combine the fitness and writing worlds in fun, cool ways that enhance and support our concurrent goals to stay fit and to stay productive in our creative output of entertainment projects (primetime network and cable shows, television series, feature films, motion pictures, TV-movies, miniseries, etc.).
HOW TO MAKE THE FIT WRITERS TEAM:
Interested in applying for the fit writers collective? Answer the following questions:
1) Do you live in the southern California (Los Angeles) area?
2) Do you have active involvement in and/or strong ties to the fitness or sports industry (i.e., a fitness/sports competitor, pro athlete, former pro athlete, fitness trainer, sports coach, fitness model, avid gym-goer, or some other type of fitness/sports industry professional)?
3) Do you currently incorporate a regular fitness regime into your lifestyle?
4) Do you have at least two complete, professional-quality TV scripts and/or movie screenplays?
If you answered “yes” to the questions above, you may apply by sending the first 10 pages of two of your strongest writing samples, along with a brief bio explaining your connection to the fitness/sports world and what you might contribute to the group dynamic, to email@example.com
Once the fit writers collective is formed, the official name of the group (which has already been selected) will be announced, and we will pursue potential sponsors and industry partnerships to support our efforts, including the following:
+ Group Sessions and Workshops
+ Industry and Promotional Events
+ Creative and Professional Development
+ Literary and Talent Representation
+ Fitness and Entertainment Opportunities
THE RIGHT FIT FOR THE FIT WRITERS TEAM
Keep in mind, the selection process is very strict and (in addition to background and professionalism) relies heavily on the strength and quality of prospective members’ writing. Only professional-caliber, market-ready writing will be strongly considered. (Of course, members retain all rights to their individual works.)
The bottom line is: either you are a writer or you are not. This group is for serious writers only, not hobbyists. This is not a group to “teach” non-writers how to write. You must come to the table equipped with true storyteller’s skill/talent and the ability to execute/display it at the highest level.
At the present time, California residence is required to facilitate group meetings and networking opportunities; yet, if this experiment is successful, we may consider expanding membership to individuals outside of California.
Admittedly, identifying individuals equally dedicated to both physical fitness and the craft of screenwriting might not be easy; thus, it will be interesting to see if the select few who are mind-and-body challengers can convene in the name of community and creativity.
